PRESS RELEASE — Percolation July 28, 2019

Connections Concerts announces its second concert, “Percolation,” featuring Max Ribner, Saeeda Wright, Saffire Bouchelion, Courtney Freed, Liz Kohl, Sophie Lippert, and a promising unique concert experience.

PORTLAND, OR — Connections Concerts is proud to announce the second concert of its inaugural season, Percolation, on Sunday, July 28th at 7:30pm at The Little Church, located in the heart of the Alberta Arts District.

Connections Concerts is the brainchild of noted concert pianist and powerhouse performer, Sophie Lippert, solo pianist with Seattle Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic, and the Olympia Symphony. The monthly series features artists from different genres who not only perform their music, but invite the audience into conversations with them. As an added feature, each concert features the art of a local artist in its promotional materials.

“My deepest fulfillment comes from connecting people more deeply to themselves, their work, their communities, and their purpose.” says Lippert. “I am passionate about using music as a medium of connection, and making music more accessible, approachable, and engaging. These concerts will incorporate conversations and group exploration into the experience of live music.”

Percolation includes a prolific line-up: Max Ribner, flugelhorn (hailing from Nahko and Medicine for the People), Saeeda Wright, gospel and soul vocals (backup singer for Prince), Saffire Bouchelion, handpan and drums (featured with Sheryl Crow, The Barenaked Ladies, and more), Courtney Freed, jazz vocals (of recent one-woman Freddie Mercury tribute show “Mercury Rising”), Liz Kohl (PSU professor and piano teacher), and Lippert playing both piano and cello. The performers will share in a “roundtable” style: trading off songs and stories, and performing both solo and in collaboration. Audiences should expect a rich evening of classical, jazz, and world music; famous songs and original compositions. Refreshments will also be available from local artisan and chocolate maker Kristina Pescatore.

“My hope is that people will leave feeling more connected both to the music and to the people who shared the evening with them. All are welcome to join us for a rich evening that celebrates music, community and connection.”
